Foundations: How Dogs Learn & Body Awareness
9 Lessons
Who This Course Is For
This course is for Border Collie owners who know their dog needs more than just physical exercise.
It is for you if:
* You have a busy, active, thinking dog that gets bored easily
* You want structured training, not random tricks
* You want to move from basic skills to more advanced work step by step
* You enjoy training and want to improve your timing, clarity, and communication
* You have a young dog you want to build properly
* Or an adult dog that needs direction and purpose
Whether your Border Collie is a future sport dog or simply a clever companion, this course gives you a clear framework to develop real skills.
Why Enrol If You Have a Border Collie?
Border Collies are not just energetic. They are intelligent, observant, and quick to learn patterns — including the ones we don’t mean to teach.
Without structured mental work, that busy brain often turns into:
* Over-arousal
* Frustration
* Reactivity
* Obsessive behaviours
* Or constant demand for more stimulation
This course gives you a way to channel that brain into purposeful training.
You are not just “keeping them busy.” You are teaching them how to think, how to learn, and how to work with you.
What You Will Achieve By joining this course, you will:
* Understand how to use markers and reinforcers clearly
* Learn multiple ways to teach behaviours: shaping, capturing, luring
* Build strong foundation skills like targeting, platforms, body awareness, and engagement
* Progress into distance work, heel foundations, retrieve skills, cone work, and positional control
* Develop a dog that can focus, think, and perform with clarity
* Have a structured progression from foundation to advanced skills
Most importantly, you will build a dog that is mentally satisfied and able to work with you instead of against you. This is not random training. It is progressive skill building designed specifically for the Border Collie brain.
How the Online Class Works
Training Skills for Busy Brains is a structured three-month program running through March, April and May.
You are not just joining a class. You are committing to 13 weeks of guided progression.
Live Teaching Dates We meet live on Zoom at 5 pm on:
- 4th March , 18th March
- 1st April , 15th April, 29th April
- 13th May, 27th May
That’s 7 live teaching sessions across three months.
All sessions are recorded, so if you cannot attend live, you will still have full access.
What Happens in the Live Sessions
During each live session, I will:
- Teach new exercises and structured progressions using one of my dogs
- Break down how to train them clearly
- Explain common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Answer your questions
- Set clear homework for the next two weeks
- Each live builds directly on the previous one so skills layer properly and logically.
After each live session, every exercise will also be available inside the course platform as individual lessons.
Each lesson includes:
Clear written instructions:
- Step-by-step progression
- Small demonstration video clips
-This means you are not relying only on the live session.
You can go back, review, and train at your own pace with clear guidance.
13 Weeks of Feedback and Support
This is where the real value is. After each live, you train and post your videos and questions in the community. Videos and questions must be submitted by Tuesday the next week.
Every Wednesday morning, I will:
- Review your training videos
- Give clear, practical feedback
- Answer your questions
- Highlight adjustments and progressions
You then apply the feedback and continue training before the next live session. This means you receive 13 full weeks of guidance and accountability, not just live teaching.
This online course is for Border Collie owners who want more than just exercise for their dog. It is for owners who want a clear, structured plan to channel their dog’s busy brain into purposeful training.
Inside the class, you will learn how to build skills step by step, starting from solid foundations and progressing towards more advanced behaviours. You will learn how to create clarity, improve communication, and develop behaviours that are reliable and transferable to real life.
By the end of the course, you will have a structured training system you can follow, a dog that thinks and works with you, and practical skills that satisfy your Border Collie’s brain in a productive way.
